FAQ

Hubs, in detail.

What size hubs does Fundilusa produce?
Propeller hubs up to 9 tons, supplied either pre-machined or fully finished, in bronze alloy.
What testing is carried out on hubs?
Hubs can be subjected to the full range of quality-assurance testing at Fundilusa's own installations: pressure testing, dye-penetrant inspection and ultrasonic testing, alongside chemical analysis and dimensional control.
How does Fundilusa guarantee a sound casting?
Feed and solidification simulation software is run on the complex hub geometry before the pour, so shrinkage and porosity are engineered out at the design stage rather than discovered at inspection.
Can a hub be delivered ready for assembly?
Yes. Hubs are delivered pre-machined or finished according to the order; nearly all Fundilusa products leave the works ready for assembly.
What is a propeller hub?
The hub is the central body of a controllable-pitch or built-up propeller. The blades bolt to it, and on a CPP system it houses the mechanism that rotates them to change pitch, so its soundness and dimensional accuracy are critical to the whole propulsion train.
